disclaimer: What I’m going to write are my personal experience and thoughts.
Everyone knows that, if you’re enrolled in our country’s National Service programme. Other than having 3 months of Malaysian-PLKN-style-training, you’ll have 6 meals a day too.
So, lots of people argued about the outcome of PLKN. some say, will become fat, some say the opposite…
Lets take a look at the time table for each meal…
- 6.30am – Morning exercise
- 7.30am – Breakfast
- 8.30am – Class
- 10.30am – Tea break
- 11.00am – continue class
- 12.30pm – Lunch & rest (on Friday, 12noon)
- 2.30pm – Physical Class (on Friday, 2.45pm)
- 4.30pm – Tea Break
- 5.30pm – Recreation
- 6.15pm-8.30pm – Dinner
- 7.00pm-9.00pm – Malays go pray
- 7.30pm-9.00pm – Chinese/Indians gather at hall
- 9.00pm – Night activity (watch DVD or something else)
- 10.30pm – Supper
- 11.30pm – Lights off
As you can see, you’ll get a chance to fill your stomach in an average 2-2.5 hours… We just don’t have the time to feel hungry…
According to our Camp Commander, the meals are set by JLKN and every camp in Malaysia are having the same set of diet. For example, if you’re having a chicken rice lunch, other camps are having the same too…. Well, I think JLKN did set the diet, but maybe some camps still not yet start following it… cause I heard some of my friends at other camp say that their meals are always the same everyday…
The foods are HALAL, but it doesn’t mean that you’ll only get to eat Malay food only. Sometimes, got chapati halal, nasi goreng cina halal, and etc… hahaha….
Lots of people are complaining about the food, but I think our camp’s food quite acceptable. Other than complaining, they choose to eat instant noodle rather than having the meal prepared…
So, what I see is… they’re all spoilt kids… What is the problem that they can’t eat malay food?
I’m not saying we can’t eat instant noodles, but every time, I’m pissed off to see they eat maggi for every meal… great one…
I read all your posts labeled PLKN. Thanks for shedding some light on PLKN. I didn’t get either the first or second call.
I’m less scared of it but the “no internet” life is difficult for me.
btw, how much money you get?
I’m just sharing my experience during the training..
“no internet” life is so tormenting… I couldn’t believe I went through that.
total allowance I got is RM450…
cool..
