Project 3470 Update

Project 3470 - 02

Update from my previous post where I mentioned on a new PC building project.

The naming of the project comes from the processor model number – Intel Core i5-3470 – http://ark.intel.com/products/68316

Since I don’t plan on extreme overclocking, I went for economic build, taking the regular i5 instead of the flagship i5-3570K. By the way, non-K board still can overclock mildly with proper motherboard chipset.

Project 3470 - 01

SilverStone Temjin TJ08-E.

I choose to go for small form factor because I wanted a small and light chassis that could serve all my needs.

This little Temjin is quite a beast – http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=303

Project 3470 - 03

G.Skill RipjawsX 8GB DDR3-1600 CL9

Colour matching with the motherboard. 8GB is sufficient for my needs as well.

Project 3470 - 04

ASUS P8Z77-M, micro ATX board that fits in the little Temjin.

Feature packed little board – http://my.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z77M/

  1. This is well said, and helps decide when banging head about which CPU to choose –> “Since I don’t plan on extreme overclocking, I went for economic build”

As long it has 4 cores ~3ghz should be fine for years to come 🙂
