Yeah, I know that I’m superbly late with this, but instead of doing a preview of the season’s anime, I wish to share my Winter 2010 anime watchlist with all of you.
You could get yourself bunch of the season’s anime previews when you search for “Winter 2010 anime list” using Google. Or just get the visual preview from Chartfag.
After gathering several reviews from those who watched a few episodes of the season’s anime, here’s a brief list of animes those get their titles on my watchlist, from most anticipated to most-likely-will-drop ones.
Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu
Synopsis: The story centers around Akihisa Yoshii, the “baka” of the title. His academy rigidly divides up the student body into classes based on the results of tests. The prodigies are in the A class with reclining seats complete with air conditioning, but Akihisa is in F class, the lowest rung of the school ladder which is furnished only with low, decrepit tables and worn-out straw tatami mats. A girl named Mizuki Himeji is actually one of the smartest girls in Akihisa’s sophomore year, but she had a fever on test day and was pigeonholed into the F class. Besides Mizuki (who Akihisa secretly adores), the F class also has Yūji Sakamoto, the class president who has been Akihisa’s friend and partner-in-crime since the freshman year. The school happens to have developed experiments to summon fantasy creatures, and Akihisa decides to rally F class to take on the higher-tiered classes and seize their perks. The F class uses the summoned creatures in an all-out battle for school supremacy.
Discussion among forumers are quite positive regarding this series, but I don’t have much hope with it.
Dance in the Vampire Bund
Synopsis: After millennia in hiding, Mina Tepes, the Princess of the ancient covenant and ruler of all vampires, wants change. Using the vast wealth of the Tepes line, she has paid off the entire gross national debt of Japan and in so doing, gained the authority to create a “special district” off the coast of Japan that is to become the future haven to vampires the world over! Now, on the eve of the landmark press conference announcing the existence of vampires to the world, terrorists and rival factions are plotting to assassinate Mina Tepes before she has a chance to make her world-changing announcement.
by SHAFT, and loli vampire… @.@
Probably this is my most anticipated anime out of this season.
Durarara!!
Synopsis: The story takes place in a downtown of Tokyo, Ikebukuro. Teenage punks gang up and fight against each other. The gangsters are afraid of an urban legend “Dullahan” headless rider, who rides a black motorcycle without head lights nor sounds of engine. Ryuugamine Mikado is a normal high school boy who seeks peculiar beings. When He moves in to Ikebukuro, a mad scramble for Dullahan’s missing head breaks out.
Heard that this series have great storyline, but the artwork seems to be quite “unique” for me..
Hidamari Sketch x ☆☆☆ (Hoshi Mittsu)
Synopsis: Yuno has just begun school where she always wanted, Yamabuki High School. She moves out and into an apartment by herself in a complex called Hidamari-so, which is right in front of the school. There, she meets a classmate, Miyako, and a senior student, Hiro. Yuno’s days become hectic as she begins meeting the strange artists that live in her complex. Although she’s not used to her new life style, she begins to actualize her dream while being with these gentle friends.
SHAFT too… I enjoyed its previous seasons, and I definitely won’t skip on this one.
Ladies VS Butlers
Synopsis: Hino Akiharu lost his parents when he was small and was adopted into his uncle’s family. But he noticed his uncle is after the inheritance of his parents, so he decides to enter a boarding school, Hakureiryou high school. However his delinquent boy-like appearance frightens the girls, who make up the majority of the students. Being unable to get along with the classmates, Akiharu meets his childhood girlfriend Saikyou Tomomi.
There’s a very high possibility that I’ll drop this one after 1 or 2 episodes due to its intensive fan-service…
Omamori Himari
Synopsis: After losing his last relatives Amakawa Yuuto lives with his childhood friend Rinko, his only problem being his allergy to cats. Until on his 16th birthday a girl with a sword appears, telling him that he is the descendant of a family of demon slayers and that she is a spirit sworn to protect him. Bad luck for Yuuto, since she is a cat spirit and eager to get close to him… very close…
Well, I do read its manga and I really like it, hope the anime adaptation won’t ruin everything…
Ookami Kakushi
Synopsis: The story follows Hiroshi Kuzumi, a 16-year-old boy who has just moved to the seemingly serene village of Jogamachi. Nestled in the mountains far away from the city, the village is divided by a river that separates old Jogamachi from new Jogamachi. Young Hiroshi soon discovers that the village’s ancient as well as mysterious traditions and customs have been kept alive over the ages. Although a bit bewildered by the new environment, Hiroshi begins to settle into his new life. While he has never been the type to win any popularity contests, he quickly earns the affection of his classmates. That is with the exception of aloof class president, Nemuru Kushinada, whose only words to Hiroshi are a warning to stay away from old part of town. It is there that terror and mystery await him.
The promo picture looks nice…
Seikon no Qwaser
Synopsis: In St. Mikhailov Academy, Oribe Mafuyu meets a silver haired boy called Alexander. He is a Qwaser, a being who can manipulate iron and draws his power from breast milk.
Someone could get his super-natural power through sucking breast milk… OMG?? have to take a look…
and will drop it… if everything goes really really wrong…
So・Ra・No・Wo・To
Synopsis: The story takes place in an imaginary town Seize (the model cities are Cuenca and Alarcón Fortress in Spain). A long war brings a gradual decline to the world. People disappear from the town and fishes cease to exist in the sea. In this quiet world, five girls guard a fortress and play brass vividly.
Everyone are talking about this because K-ON! joins the army.
Other than those new series which I mentioned above, continuation series such as “Kobato” and “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” are still in my list. Same goes for those movie versions, such as the upcoming “Fate/stay night movie – Unlimited Blade Works” which I only have chance to enjoy it after the release of its DVD.
How’s your watch list for Winter 2010 anime?
I had dropped tat breast milk sucker because i feel like it is something weird== & something goes wrong with Ookami Kakushi on the 3rd episode due to negative comments from the fans on animetake, so I’m waiting for the in-coming episodes and see how will the situation be….
Sora no Woto, in my opinion, it is so far so good…I hope they keep it up and yes the designs are similar to K-ON!, just the studio is not Kyoani
Omamori Himari: hmm…The 1st episode had given me a sign that it is going to be a nice anime, i’m going to download the following episodes and enjoy it during CNY XD
Durarara!: Not bad, headless rider…Just watch the 1st episode..
For now I’m still enjoying my favourite anime which is “Toaru Kagaku no Railgun” ^^, the new OP Theme & EN Theme are incredibly nice!! Especially the new OP, both OP are nice =D..fripSide rocks =)and I think John you know the history of fripSide as well, they also create OP theme for Koihime Muso just the vocal was different, the previous vocal stated that she is graduated from fripSide, I think the current has more potential =)..Sometimes I’ll rewatch “Toaru Majutsu no Index”in order to analyse the storyline…
Wow, it seems like I’m going to write an essay on yr post XD, but anyway I hope you like my “little idea” from my mind =)
This season shrunk…. not much anime that I’m really looking forward to..
except those continuation ones – Railgun, FMA…
